5th Grade Puberty Lesson Information

Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s),

As part of the Grade 5 Science and Health curriculum, students will learn about human development and puberty on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

What Students Will Learn:

  • Puberty Basics: When your body begins to grow and change.
  • What Causes Puberty: Hormones are released when the pituitary gland signals the ovaries in females or the testes in males.
  • Changes During Puberty: Physical and emotional changes.
  • Reproductive Development: Male changes and the female menstrual cycle are normal, healthy processes.
  • Self-Care: Hygiene, healthy eating, exercise, sleep, and talking with trusted adults.

Instruction Details:

  • Students will be taught by gender: Mr. Jarrod Chapman will teach the lesson to male students, and Ms. Jenessa Woodrich will teach the lesson to female students.
  • Presentations include teacher instruction and a slideshow.

Opt-Out Option:
If you prefer your child not to participate, complete one of the following by 4:00 pm, Monday, January 26, 2026:
